How'd You Get to be a Zip Line Guide?

A common question asked of guides at The Gorge is, “how did you land such a fun job?” Being a canopy tour guide is an absolute blast! We play in the tree tops and spend our days outside breathing in the fresh mountain air. We joke and engage with hundreds of unique and incredible families and people from all over. We facilitate an outdoor experience that will never be forgotten.

Amongst all the fun that we have, there is a lot of work and training that goes into being a canopy tour guide. There is time management while on course, learning safety systems and why they are in place, medical training, developing knowledge of breaking systems, learning about the environment & local/natural history, and keeping rescue skills sharp. Now that you are looking around for an application, there is only one question left to ask… How can YOU become a outdoor professional and marketable as a canopy tour guide?

Here is the answer! The Gorge is excited to be partnering with Blue Ridge Community College to offer an in depth, hands on training course for folks interested in pursuing a canopy tour job in the future."This comprehensive course will give successful completers all necessary skills and confidence to lead guests on zip line/treetop adventures.
